New anime season is here and as much as we are pretty deep in this is the first chance I've had to go through my watch list (sorry! The blog has been full and busy). It's a really good season going on at the moment :). As usual, I'll stick where you can find the official releases in here. Here are the ones I've tried and am hoping to stick with:
Radiant
The world of Radiant is plagued by monsters called Nemesis. Those who survive attacks from them awaken magic and become sorcerers.
I wasn't sure on Radiant to begin with, a little afraid it might just become really stereotypical like Black Clover and it's been...okay so far. Like most Shounen, the main character wants to be the best at what he does, be number one hero etc but his reason for it is just so nice. Already Seth comes across as such a good-hearted boy in a way I find much more relatable than Deku or Asta.
I really look forward to what this one has to offer.
You can find this on Crunchyroll.
A Certain Magical Index
Omg! I love the index/railgun series and I'm so excited that after all these years we are seeing it return to our screens!!
For those unfamiliar, this is a kinda complex series about the interaction of science and magic and an unluckly guy caught in the middle. Do not jump in this series at season three you will have no idea what's going on. I'm struggling a bit as unfortunately there isn't an official release of seasons 1+2 on any of the streaming service in the UK (That I'm aware anyway. If you can correct me on this please do.) so I lacked the ability to give myself a well-needed catch-up. I also watched it dubbed those years ago to getting used to the subbed voices has been fun.
In most countries, you can find all the seasons on Crunchyroll (and Funimation I think). In the UK I thank the lucky stars we are at least getting season 3.
That time I got reincarnated as a slime
An Isekai series that doesn't take itself too seriously. A dude from Japan got killed and reincarnated as an over-powered slime in a fantasy world. That is about all there is to the plot.
I wasn't really sold on it after it's the first episode. I found it kinda boring by my boyfriend seemed to like it so I stuck with it and the second episode at least was better. After I've found myself pulled in by it's chilled out pace and look forward to watching more.
You can find this series also on Crunchyroll.
Sword Art Online
We were all hurt by the fairy dance arc in Sword Art Online. No one wanted Princess Asuna, no one needed that creepy-ass villain. It was a huge let down after we enjoyed its first half. It took me a long time to get over that hurt but I'm happy I did.
Sword Art is a series I've come to enjoy since getting over that. The second season was cool, I got to see the movie in the cinema on my birthday and the Gun Gale spin-off was fun too. I'm actually pretty excited to see what happens in this newest season as fans of the Light Novel say this is the best arc yet.
So far I feel like the series has come back a bit slow so far but since we are getting episodes every week for a year now the series has all the time in the world.
You can find this series on Crunchyroll
Fairy Tail
So I actually caught up with fairy tail fairly recently so to me it's like it never left.
I'm not sure what to say about this plot wise other than the newest series picks up right where we left off and is all the Fairy Tail we have come to expect.
You can find it on Crunchyroll.
SSSS. Gridman
Gridman is... a little strange. For those familiar with the studio Trigger (Darling in the Franxx), you will know they have a habit of things getting really weird at some point in the series. They change this slightly with Gridman being really weird from the get-go.
If you can deal with a mad premise and like things like Power Rangers and Kamen Rider than you'll enjoy Gridman. The whole thing feels like an anime excuse for Megazord fights, it's pretty fun.
You can find it on Crunchyroll.
Me and the boyfriend have also attempted Double Decker and as much as the style is great with the CW superhero shows coming back, the Charmed TV show and some Netflix shows coming out too it's all a bit too much to keep up with so these are the only shows we are managing to watch weekly. There are several others in this season I would like to try out but life and time sadly (what kind of Otaku am I? What is this life I speak of!?)
How has your anime season gone so far? What are you watching? Let me know in the comments :)
Want to catch up on last season? It was a bit of a dry one but here's what I watched during that season.
